At Symbiont Legal, we believe in full transparency about how artificial intelligence is — and isn't — used in our products. As a company that sells legal templates for the AI era, we hold ourselves to the same disclosure standards we advocate for our customers.
1. How AI Relates to Our Products
Symbiont Legal sells legal contract templates and provides an attorney marketplace for AI-era business partnerships. Our products help humans draft legally sound agreements — but it's important to understand the role AI plays in our operation:
What AI does
- AI tools may be used to assist in researching legal trends, regulatory developments, and clause variations during template creation
- AI may assist in drafting initial content that is then extensively reviewed and edited by humans
- Our website and development tools use AI-assisted coding and design
What AI does NOT do
- AI does not make legal decisions on your behalf
- AI does not review, approve, or validate your completed contracts
- AI does not replace the need for qualified legal counsel
- AI does not process, store, or analyze your personal deal details
2. The Formulation Wizard Is Not AI
Our Contract Formulation Wizard is a structured form tool, not an AI system. It:
- Collects your inputs through standard form fields (text inputs, dropdowns, date pickers)
- Assembles them into a formatted brief using a deterministic template — no machine learning, large language models, or predictive algorithms are involved
- Runs entirely in your browser — your data never leaves your device
The wizard is a convenience tool, comparable to a mail merge or form-fill utility.
3. Template Creation Process
Every template sold on Symbiont Legal goes through a multi-step process:
- Research: Regulatory analysis across relevant jurisdictions (US, EU, UK). AI tools may assist in identifying and summarizing regulatory sources.
- Drafting: Templates are drafted with attention to established legal conventions. AI may assist in generating initial clause language, which is then extensively edited.
- Human review: All templates are reviewed and refined by humans for legal accuracy, readability, and practical applicability.
- Annotation: Plain-English annotations are added to explain each clause, so non-lawyers can understand and customize the templates.
4. Attorney Marketplace and AI
The attorneys listed in our marketplace are independent, licensed legal professionals. They are real humans — not AI agents, chatbots, or automated systems.
Attorneys on our platform may use their own AI-assisted tools in the course of their practice (e.g., legal research tools, document review software). Their use of AI in their practice is governed by their own professional ethics obligations and state bar rules, not by Symbiont Legal.
5. Regulatory Alignment
We monitor and align with the following regulatory frameworks:

6. Our Commitment
We commit to:
- Updating this disclosure whenever our use of AI materially changes
- Never misrepresenting AI-generated content as exclusively human-created, or vice versa
- Never using AI to make legal determinations or provide legal advice to users
- Maintaining human oversight in our template creation and review processes
- Being transparent about what our products can and cannot do
